About 100 Thieves
100 Thieves is a new gaming lifestyle company and esports organization built at the intersection of competitive gaming, entertainment, and apparel. 100 Thieves was founded in 2017 by Matt "Nadeshot" Haag, the former OpTic Gaming Call of Duty captain, X Games gold medalist, and 2014 Esports Athlete of the Year. After retiring from competitive play, Matt went on to build some of the most popular gaming channels on Twitch and YouTube, and then founded 100 Thieves as a creative outlet for his passions in competitive gaming, storytelling, and streetwear. In December 2017, the company’s growth accelerated with an investment from Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, in conjunction with receiving a franchise in the North American League of Legends Championship Series (NALCS).
Most recently, in 2018 100 Thieves finished in 2nd place in its first ever season in the NALCS, sold out five apparel drops – each in less than 20 minutes, signed major sponsors like Rocket Mortgage, General Mills, and Red Bull, and had the fastest growing YouTube and Instagram channels in esports. The company also raised its Series A from Drake, Scooter Braun, and Sequoia Capital. Moving forward, our goals are to win championships, tell the most compelling stories in competitive gaming, and create the world’s first gaming lifestyle brand.
About The Role
As the hr business partner, you will be 100 Thieves first hire in the human resources discipline and have the unique opportunity to oversee and grow this vertical at a fast growing startup. You will be a generalist and responsible for solving organizational challenges through people-related solutions. You will have the opportunity to be hands on and work with all leaders at 100 Thieves to execute initiatives in a variety of people-related areas. As a core part of this hands on work, you will be ensuring company activities are in compliance with local, state and federal laws as well as helping recruit, grow and retain our people.
BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
At least 5 years of HR business partner or generalist experience
A combination of HR experience in the following areas: Performance management, diversity and inclusion, recruiting, recognition programs, culture keeper, employee retention, coaching and development, conflict resolution, talent acquisition, employee relations, and facilities management
Comfortable and effective communicating across all mediums whether in the hallway, over e-mail or through Discord
Desire to work at a fast-growing and fast-paced startup
Passion for building companies, commitment to go above and beyond to help the company
Build relationships with managers to offer thought leadership on organizational and people related strategy and execution
Work with hiring managers to identify and prioritize key positions and skill gap as well as manage candidate recruiting process through completion including candidate identification, interview process, and onboarding
Advise on company policies such as equal employment opportunity, sexual harassment and workers’ comp while recommending needed changes
Provide employees with conflict resolution and grievance escalation guidance
Produce and maintain documentation of key HR processes
Oversee and guide payroll, benefits and various people operations programs, and ensure compliance with legal requirements
Help foster and cultivate the company culture and what it means to work at 100 Thieves
Solve problems and get to the root cause of any issue, no matter how complex
